Odds and Ends

Oh lookie there, I dropped the ball again on the posting. Whoops.

My brother comes in today. He's going to be here for two weeks. Yay!

Also I have been working very hard organizing Summer break for my kids. Its filled with activities and trips (free or very low cost and close to home), Parks and trails, water fun, library trips, and much more! I can not wait!

I also dropped the ball on my challenges I was doing, the squat one and the abs one. I have been doing squats still but not the number from the challenge. :(  I plan to pick it up again soon though. Also I have worked in lots of exercise this summer as well. I ordered a Zumba Wii game for the kids and I.

Sorry I left you hanging....I got sick Wed night and it was awful! There is a nasty stomach bug going around this area! All of use had it. Thank God The baby didn't get the up end of it and only the back end. I really hate the smell of vomit...

I had to have this polish just for the name alone! I don't like pinks! This is Zoya Micky, is you didn't get that huge hint up there ;)

I topped it with Nail-Venturous Floam. I was going to a design on top of this, but this looked so pretty the way it was. it came off pretty easily with acetone and cotton balls as well, no need to haul out my tin foil squares.

Its a very springy manicure, don't you think?

Fitness check-in

Hey guys. Last Thursday I shared a couple challenges I was working on this month. One for Abs, and the other one is a squat challenge. I started the squat challenge a day before the ab' challenge. I am on day 8 of squats (a rest day) and day 7 on the ab challenge.

The first few days I was so sore, as with any new exercise program.I usually give up. I stuck with it. I am so very proud of myself. I feel the 'pain' still but it isn't unbearable. I can sit on the toilet without crying now, LOL.

The abs challenge is getting tougher as well. This comes from a girl who is considered obese. I step on the Wii fit, and the little Mii goes "ooh that's obese' UGH! I want to smack it! I don't think I look obese. But any who, back to my topic....I'm fat. Its hard to exercise. I have a big gut. I showed you, so sit ups are hard. But I am pushing through them. Getting them done. And feeling good about myself in the meantime.

I have a Jillian Micheals DVD that I want to add in to my day, or every other day. (or every FOUR days or more, she kills me!) (Its the 30 day shred). But I am being a wimp. I think I will wait until I am two week into both challenges to start the DVD. (or not)

Oh, Barnacles!

On FB I created a group. Its called Polish Exchange. Its a small group of girls, and we have a box full of our unwanted polish that circulates around. We pick from the box and then add in more unwanted polish. Its fun. These are three colors I chose from this last round.

I found this cool little rock with barnacles on it at our mini beach. I brought it home for our future fish tank.

I love these colors together. I am not a red polish girl at all, but this is one I love!!

Healthy Cookies, TWO versions!

I've been watching my calorie intake for two weeks now. I LOVE sweets. Its very hard for me to say no. If its in the house I eat it. I was browsing FB the other day and saw a banana and oatmeal 'cookie', and thought hey that sounds good, and then a day later saw that a friend had made them and she said they were good.

So I went off to make them.

The kids LOVED them. 'Mommy these are so good, you have to make these everyday!'

This was the recipe I found online.

Today I didn't have banana's and was craving something sweetish. So I went to see what I could find.
I found a can of pumpkin puree and some cinn applesauce. And then I started mixing.

This is the recipe I came up with:

Pumpkin Oat Cookies

1 cup quick oats
1 cup pumpkin puree
1/2 cup cinnamon applesauce
1/8 tsp maple flavoring
1/8 tsp vanilla extract
a dash of cinnamon
a dash of nutmeg
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, mini....see note below for other alternatives

Mix together and place on a greased cookie sheet, smash a bit down in small circles about the size of golf balls.

Makes 15 cookies.

Nutrition info per cookie
Calories: 69.3
Fat: 2.6
Sugar: 6.3
Carbs: 11.3
Protein: 1.5
Fiber: 1.3
Sodium: 6

This is a great alternative to the normal cookie. Can be used as breakfast also. Very healthy. Can use just about anything in them, raisins, craisins, nuts...

'take picture me mommy'

He's my baby.

He is the only one that came out looking like me and followed my gene pool. Out of four kids.

(He's also the only one who didn't have a large head when born and then didn't skyrocket off the growth chart at four months old-like the other three) I think the big headedness was from Husband's side. Husband has a big head too.

Abs, Quadriceps, Hamstrings, Calves, & Glutes oh my!

You've prob seen those 30 day challenges floating around on FB...

Well I have signed up for TWO.

An abs one:

Looks easy enough right....(well at least day one does/did)

And also a squats one:

I started the squat challenge a day ahead of the abs challenge.
Now next you will find my before pictures. This is taking me alot of pride to post them here. ALOT.

(excuse my horrible pictures)

I'm sore, it's hard to get up from a sitting position, heck....its hard to sit on the toilet even! My thighs burn like hell! No pain no gain, right? So there I bared it all for ya. Hopefully at the end of this torture I will look better and feel better about myself.

Oh I am also 'dieting', Watching what I eat, and how much I eat. I am drinking half my body weight in ounces of water a day (that's 115 ounces, alotta H2O). I took measurements as well and will share those at the very end.
