Guest Post: Carinae from Carinae L'etoile's polish stash

Hello there! I was getting tired of Gold and Pink mani's so I reached out to the community for some guests posts.

If you want to help me out also this month with a pink AND gold mani for Pediatric and Breast Cancer Awareness, just email me!

This month I and now others, will be sporting a pink AND gold manicure everyday, except the days of my Halloween challenge I am participating in.

Why? To support Breast cancer awareness month and because I forgot last month or rather didn't really know because it isn't as publicized as Breast Cancer is, Pediatric cancer awareness.

I have a friend that has a wonderful little boy, E. (See Below) He is so strong and so brave! He is fighting the evil dragon, that is what they call it. He has a GREAT supportive family, that has also been very strong and brave. I want to support them as well and what better way to do it then to do fun mani's?? If your the donating type, there are three charities that my Friend recommends:
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, St. Baldricks, and Curesearch
Here is Carinae:

Nail art has never been my forte. I decided to bust out with the dotting tools and my tape...Don't laugh too hard.

The colors I used were Ginger and Liz's Got My Groove Back and OPI's If You Moust You Moust.
I wanted to do something fun for me, but not in the Ruffian Mani with a French Mani accent kind of way I do things.
I took some tape and made the V you see on my pinkie nail. I also taped off my middle finger in the section. I also busted out with the dotting tool. Truth be told, I've always been a bit scared of doing nail art and, most importantly, the dotting tool.
Dotting tools are a little frustrating to me. I can't seem to master using them. I know that they're fun and I love seeing what people have done with them, but for some reason I just can't ever really get it to work. Everything always looks like a fail. At least to me...and then to make matters worse, I thought I'd try to make this pink and gold mani all cute by using a matte top coat on my pointer and ring finger. You can't even tell it has the top coat on. It looks sort of...shiny. Le sigh. Oh well, at least I tried and I ventured out with nail art...It's something I rarely ever do. I may have to try it some more.
So here is my offering of a mani for Pediatric and Breast Cancer awareness.

Awesome!

Playing with playdoh, this was just the other day, He started kindergarten and is now in the hospital receiving medicine because someone else let their child go to school sick :(

From E's mom today: Being a mom isn't the easiest job regardless of what is happening, but being home with 1 child, being 36 weeks pregnant with another and having your oldest in the hospital with out you is really hard. I hate that I can't be there to cuddle my boy while he is not feeling well. These are the little things that cancer steals from us that other families don't go through.

Ok on to the guest post, Here is Whitney:

Hi everyone! I'm Whitney and I run a little nail blog called Dressed Up Nails. Carrie posted in our polish Facebook group that she was looking for guest posters for this month to do pink and gold manis and I jumped at the chance because I've never done a guest post before and it sounded like fun! I knew I wanted to use gold glitter because glitter makes everything better, and I wanted to use several different shades of pink, so I started sketching out designs and came up with this skittles mani.

At first I wasn't super pumped about the color combo since I've been so into fall colors lately, but I ended up liking these nails so much. They're by far the girliest, pinkest nails I've ever done.

The colors I used, from lightest to darkest pink, were:
China Glaze Something Sweet
OPI Pink Friday
Zoya Shelby
China Glaze Rich & Famous
Zoya Reagan

The gold glitter is one of my favorites, especially for glitter gradients - China Glaze Blonde Bombshell.

I free handed everything on this mani - at first I was thinking about using striping tape for a couple nails but the fact that I'd have to wait for polish to dry put me off that idea (as usual haha). For my thumb, middle and ring fingers I started with a base of two coats of China Glaze White on White and free handed all the patterns on with my favorite mid-length striper brush. The ring finger took for-ev-er but the rest weren't bad at all. My pointer finger started with two coats of Blonde Bombshell and then I added the gradient dots starting in the middle and working toward my free edge and then back toward my cuticle to make sure I'd have room for all the colors. For my pinky I just used three coats of Rich & Famous and then did a quick glitter gradient with Blonde Bombshell just using the polish bottle brush.

My favorite two designs are definitely my pointer and ring fingers, I love the ring finger design and I want to replicate it for a whole mani at some point when I have like three hours to sit and do my nails. Seriously so time-consuming, I was really glad that I only did this design on one nail haha!

I hope you guys have enjoyed my very first guest post! Thank you so much to Carrie for letting me be a part of her pink and gold series!

Thank you Whitney. This is very talented work!

Cancer Awareness Challenge, Guest Post, sort of...

Hi guys, as you know, if you've been following this month, I am/was doing two challenges. A Halloween one and a pink and gold one for Breast and Pediatric Cancer Awareness. I ran out of Ideas so I posted for help in my polish Facebook group! A bunch of people stepped up, thank you! You have been and will continue to see theirs. The one I am posting today I saw posted on the polish group I mentioned above. I asked her permission to share it with you guys, and she granted it.

Hello everyone!

I'm Candy from the blog Mademoiselle Candice vernis ses ongles :)

I'm very happy to have the opportunity to do a guest post for my friend Carrie today!

This post takes part of the Pediatric & Breast Cancer Awareness. As these nails are for children and women, I want to do something princess-y for this nails:

To achieve the look I started with two coats of OPI - Sparrow Me The Drama, and I added one coat of China Glaze - White Cap , shaping a half-moon.

As my nails were still wet, I placed some 2mm gold studs on the nails, outlining the half-moon. I did a second line below with some holo gold hex glitter :)

I hope you liked my appearance here, do you like this nails?

You can let me know ;)

Happy polishing :)

Candy

Thank you very much Candice!! I love them.

Hi, I'm Nidia, and I run a little blog called Lit From Within.

Thanks, Carrie, for reaching out to the polish community to bring more awareness to pediatric and breast cancers this month. I was more than happy to answer the call for a mani.

I started out with a base color of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Choco-latte, a nude-like pink with brown tones. It's a very unassuming creme, and I thought it would make a great base for lots of other pinks. I had a few no-name shimmery pinks from sets I got at Ross, plus Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in Coral Kiss, NK in Fuchsia Chiffon, and LA Colors Magnetic Force. I put drops of all of them on a palette, and got a little dish of acetone ready, and a small paintbrush. Using the paintbrush, I would apply bits of the different pinks, and then use the acetone to swirl them into each other for a softened, 'watercolor' effect. In real life, you could see the shimmer and the different pinks better, but they were probably a little too close to each other in tone to stand out properly for the effect to work well. I still thought it made a pretty pink swirl!

I added LA Glitter Addict in Synergy for a pretty gold sprinkle on top.
Are you dressing your nails for a cause this month?

Thank you Nidia! Fabulous mani!!

Carrie gave me the opportunity to do a guest post and I couldn’t be happier! Her only request was to use gold and pink, and I love both of them, so it was easy. Also, she is doing it for a great cause, Pediatric and Breast Cancer, I had to participate.

First, I am going to tell you a little bit about myself: I am Belén, the owner of Nail Polish Lane . I’m a college student obsessed with nail art. I started getting into it last February or March and I have learned a lot since them, especially during the summer, when I had time to do different manis everyday and my friends let me practice with their nails. Now I am back to school and I don’t have that much time anymore, but I try to keep my blog alive.

Now to the mani! My favorite pink polish is OPI If Your Moust You Moust, and I had to use it for this special post! Then I decided to stamp it with a beautiful gold: Barry M Gold Foil and the stamping plate BM-315 from the third Bundle Monster set. I was in love with the final result and I got a lot of compliments, plus I was doing it for a great cause!

I hope you liked my entry, and I want to thank Carrie for giving me this opportunity!

Hi everybody! Carrie asked fellow nail polish lovers to help her out with her breast cancer and pediatric cancer awareness challenge. I never knew that October was Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, so Carrie, your campaign is succeeding! When I think of a two-toned mani, I immediately think of stamping. My nails are sporting OPI Sparrow Me The Drama from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection (pink) and China Glaze Passion (gold) in the photos above. The first picture was taken in the sun and shows Passion more accurately, while the second picture was taken in the shade and shows Sparrow Me The Drama more accurately. Apologies for the state of my cuticles, I didn't know just how bad they were until I started taking closeup photos.

(no matter what I do the pictures appear upside down, sorry - Carrie)

Poor Sparrow Me The Drama, it was languishing on my shelf of untrieds for a ridiculously long time. Muted cremes aren't usually my thing, but it was a gift, so I had to try it at least once. The formula is what you would expect from an OPI creme, opaque in two coats with minimal fuss. The color's kind of growing on me. Of course, stamping helps! Passion is my go-to for stamping in gold. The tone is more cool and pale than I would like, but it works well for this purpose. The design is from Drikk plate DRK-A, a Brazilian brand available from www.ninjapolish.com. My nail beds are enormous, so I can't use Konad or Bundle monster full-nail designs; they're just too small. Drikk is the only brand that sells designs large enough to cover my entire nail without me having to cut them down to nubs. If you have large nail beds too and want to stamp, take heart, there's a company that finally listened to us! If you have small nail beds... I would stick with Konad and Bundle monster, most of the designs will be too large for you.

Even with a few stamping mistakes and less than perfect cuticles, I like the way this mani turned out. There's a nice balance of pink and gold, Celtic-inspired designs are always a hit, and it's for a good cause!

-Lin

Thanks Lin for the guest post, I love the subtle stamping!

Here is Sally's Mani:

When Carrie called out for people to guest blog for her Breast Cancer and Pediatric Cancer Awareness manicure month I couldn't resist. The pink is for Breast Cancer Awareness and gold for Pediatric Cancer Awareness, both good causes that deserve our support.

Decided to do something quite delicate, so we had three coats of No7 Stay Perfect in Pinky Pure. Must admit it was a bit of a challenge to cover the visible nail line which I hate seeing, but it is a nice formula and goes on well.  Then for the gold touch I used one of the new Barry M Jewels called Yellow Topaz Glitter. I only put a little bit on the base of my nails, as I didn't want it to overwhelm the pink, and then used a Matte top coat to make it much more delicate.

Hope you like what I have created, I am really pleased with the results.

Thanks Sally! This is a beautiful mani! Very Delicate indeed!

Guest Post: Pish Posh and Polish

Hi guys! I have been absent, sorry about that....lots of things going on in my life right now, I will spare you the details.....Here is a guest post today from a fellow polish aholic!

Hello there lovely readers I am delighted to be here today helping out Carrie who’s blog I have admired for some time! When Carrie asked for guest posts I just jumped at the chance.

So for this guest post I wanted to show you a great British Jem which I picked up in Superdrug for under £5. If you live in the UK grab this now and if you live anywhere else you need to arrange a swap for this! It’s Fashionista Mystical Dragon! It is a beautiful glitter glass fleck teal polish. In some light it verges towards blue and in other lights more towards the green end of the spectrum. The shimmer in this polish is unbelievable. It is stunning. There is no other word for it. I am going to let the photo’s talk from there selves!

Imagine a teal China Glaze Riveting. It is just yummy.

I decided to pair this beautiful colour with some cute nail art stickers. The orange flowers really compliment the teal and create a bright contrast. With a thick layer of top coat this laid completely flat on the nail. One of my pet peeves is snagging nail art.

Doesn’t it just look cute? It is the perfect summer manicure in non-traditional colours!

Anyway that’s all from me folks. I would like to just say thank you so much to Carrie for being kind enough for letting me post, I feel very honoured. Don’t forget you can all check out my own blog at: http://pishposhandpolish.blogspot.co.uk/ for more great nail art ideas perfect for summer!

Lots of Love Kerrie x

Guest Post : Claire from: Purple Fairy Dust!

Today Is Claire's day! She writes over at Purple Fairy Dust!

I have been meaning to do an autumn/fall inspired manicure for a while now but I was waiting on the La Femme Copper Tint polish to arrive. I also picked up H&M - Wanna Pepperoni as I think this colour is pretty suited for the autumn colours I was going for.

As I still have no decent nail brushes I found the finer detail on this look quite difficult.

The polishes I used were:

Base Colours - H&M Wanna Pepperoni & La Femme Copper Tint. I did every other nail in the same colour, so thumb (copper tint), fore finger (wanna pepperoni), middle finger (copper tint), ring finger (wanna pepperoni), little finger (copper tint)

On my Little Finger - I used Claire's Accessories Gold Glitter polish, I painted one coat of this over La Femme Copper Tint to create an accent nail. I love this polish and also the Baby Pink Glitter I got fro Claire's Accessories. They do come in small bottles but are priced at just £2.25 - £2.50 (prices seem to change) and they have mega glitter pay off after just 2 coats!

On my Ring Finger - I used La Femme Copper Tint to draw a leaf coming out of the side of my nail. I then used the Green Nail art pen from my Nails Supreme set, see post on this set here to draw some lines and accents on the leaf. Once this had all completely dried I used my Black Stargazer polish to line the edges of the leaf and add some definition.

On my Middle Finger - I was at a bit of a loss for things to do and I smudged the Copper Tint base slightly so I just used the Taupe and Yellow Nail art pens from my Nails Supreme set and drew lines to make a fan shape. I then applied 3 Gold flower nail art gems along the side of my nail. I did not use special glue for this but I definitely made sure to apply a few extra layers of top coat at the end.

On my Fore Finger - I drew a little umbrella using my Black Stargazer polish and a very thin cocktail stick to do the lines. This is not ideal and you can see how the lines aren't very neat but it's all I could think of when my brushes are so crappy :( I added "raindrops" using the black and the I filled in the umbrella with the pink & blue Nail art pen from my Nails Supreme set.

On my Thumb - I used my Collection 2000 Hot Shots in brown, I don't think you can get this any more as I have been looking for it... but any brown cream or opaque type polish will do. I did a "wonky" French tip and then drew another leaf on my thumb nail. I added definition using Barry M Mushroom with slight accents using the Black Stargazer polish.

Polishes Used Breakdown:

Nails Supreme Nail Art Pens (Metallic Set): Green, Taupe, Yellow, Pink, Blue.

La Femme Copper Tint

H&M Wanna Pepperoni

Claire's Accessorise Gold Glitter (No name on the bottle)

Barry M - Mushroom

Collection 2000 Hot Shots: Brown

Stargazer - Black Polish

Barry M - Base/Top Coat

I followed up with 2 coats of China Glaze Leather Top Coat, and then I applied a 3rd coat of this on my middle finger as I had applied gems to this nail and didn't want them to come loose.

I hope you like my Autumn Nails... I really like the colours together and will definitely use them again. My favourite nails are My Ring & Thumb fingers :)
